Anyone recommend a good English speaking dentist ?

We've tried a few over the years, but for various reasons we are looking for a new one. We don't mind travelling to Potiers or Limoges, we don't want to use the ones in the following places.

Montmorillon
Le Dorat
Bellac
Sillars

Thank you.

Doh You've done it there Fred.

All those views and not a single reply.  I was going to recommend two in your "banned" areas.  One in Sillars and the other in Monty.  Both very good I think but they obviously lost your dentures or took the wrong tooth out sometime in the past..... Whistle

You could try Dr Alain Nivet in L'Isle Jourdain on 05 49 48 90 98.

He can speak some English but you have to punch him very hard to force the parlez Anglais.

Bonne chance.

Thank you Admiral, I thought it would be a long shot. My French is average and I get by, but when I'm trusting someone with sharp implements in my gob I like to know they would understand the difference from a gurgling scream to a yes go ahead.

I won't go into all the reasons for my rejections, but we have had a few problems between us from different ones. So we are looking for one we both feel comfortable with, if that is possible with a dentist.  Confused

Didn't know about the one in L'Isle Jourdain, so I may give them a ring to see how it goes. But the punching him hard bit to get him to speak English is a bit off putting, not that I'm against punching a dentist but it does sound like he may not be suitable.

We're not desperate yet, so keep em coming folks.

I note the flodd of replies to your original query.  Presumably everyone has perfect teeh and doesn't need to see one.  If only.....

In the meantime, have you explored the possibility of a "walk-in" type dental service attached to a training school, university hospital etc.? Huh

I know travelling to Limoges or Poitiers rather defeats the object but might be worth investigating.

Or am I being too English in my thinking?  I know of a couple in London but London this ain't.

PS.  I think punching a dentist now and then an admirable hobby.  Keeps 'em in their place. Whistle

I hadn't thought of that, I'm often at the CHU in Poitiers. I don't remember them having one, but I'm going up at the end of the month so I will ask. Thumb

A quick revival of this topic to ask - how and where is the English speaking dentist in Montmorillon and did anyone ever try a walk in at CHU Poitiers please?

Hello Chris, I can't help with an English speaking dentist as I never did find one I was happy with. I did however go to the CHU not long after it opened, but they were only handling emergencies at the time and said to ask again in 8 months. It's more than 8 months now so it could be worth you asking, but (touch wood) neither of us need one at the moment. ........................................ I bet I regret saying that.  Doh

If you do find one or anyone else has any more info please post as it will help others in the future.
