Just thought someone may find this helpful.

I don't usually bother voting in elections, but with the Brexit referendum likely to be taking place soon I thought I should look into how I can vote.

You will need your Passport, National Insurance Number, and answer various other questions about where you last lived, when you left, etc. You will also be asked if you want to vote by post, in person in the UK, or by giving someone permission to vote on your behalf.

I also gave them my Email as they will send you conformation.

You can find the page to fill in here: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Don't delay if your not registered as the referendum could have an impact on you if you either Live here, Work here, Own property or land, Have a holiday home, Purchase from the EU, or even just visit for a weekend break and much more.

You have the right to vote, so use it.

Thanks Fred.
Very useful and timely information.

Today is the final day of the Brussels negotiations and I have just read that all the principal delegates are to be treated to a traditional British lunch.

I can't see how Cameron's position will be helped by serving up plates of Gregg's pasties.

I`ve just spent 20 minutes registering for a proxy vote for the Referendum. It was easy to complete, with all relevant links online (Just Google expat vote). All I needed was my passport, NI number, relevant date of last residency in the UK (if less than 15 years), a printer and a scanner. (if you have no scanner, you can post the printed application form.)

You can tell this isn't subject to French protocols as you don't need to disclose your hamster's birth certificate serial number or the inside leg measurement of your maiden aunt (twice removed).

I always fall there as my maiden aunt only had a leg removed once.
