Translate a French Letter

OK the title probably gave you a smile. But if you get a letter in French and you're not sure what it says, here is a handy little tip that may help.

Scan the letter and save as a PDF, JPEG, GIF or PNG file.

Go to your Google account, if you don't have one see Here!

• Sign in and go to Google Drive.
  
• Click the red arrow on the left next to "Create" and click "Files"
  
• Find the letter you just scanned and saved and double click it.
  
• A box should open make sure you tick "Convert text from PDF or image files to Google Docs documents"
  
• Your upload will start.
  
• Once it's uploaded you should see it under "My Drive"
  
• Right click it > then "Open With" > Google Docs.
  
• The letter should open in a new window.
  
• Once it's loaded go to "Tools" in the menu bar and Click "Translate Document"
  
• Choose English and click "Translate"
  
• Another window will open and you will see the original letter. Scroll down and you will see a rough translated copy.
  
• You can now print it off or go to "File" > "Download As" > Make your choice.
  

*Please Note: Google translate is not perfect and this tip is only intended to give you a rough idea of what your letter is about.
If your letter is important I would suggest you ask someone who speaks fluent French.
If you letter is a legal document I recommend you get a professional to translate it for you.
