I know I'm an idle so-and-so but I used to rely on the Junk Warehouse - sorry "The Shed" - in Bussiere for my curry pastes.  Nipping over there and buying a few jars of Patak's curry pastes used to induce a warm glow and knowledge that I could whip up a curry of some description at short notice.

BUT, on my last two visits the curry shelves have been bare - other than a few jars of Vindaloo curry sauce.  Which I don't want.

A couple of people have told me that the Anglais bloke that got all this stuff shipped in has left.  And taken his English wholesaler contacts with him.

Is there any truth in this?

Will I now have to drive for an hour to the Asian supermarket in Limoges to satisfy my cravings for curry? nono

Thanks for that.  But I'm now more than confused.  Who, what or where is Noz?  Or is it an anagram that I have to work out?

Hah!! Noz is a discount "end of line" chain, which has shops in most big cities. You can never predict what stock they have.......and lots is absolute tat, but hidden away in the debris are little gems........our last visit unearthed bottles of Black Sheep beer from Masham, and we`ve also had Speckled Hen beer on other visits.
Worth a visit to Poitiers......(on the same street as the railway station) and with free parking

Ah ha!

Was in Le Clerc in Montmorillon today and they had Pataks Korma and Tandoori sauces and a couple of other Patak pastes.

I have also seen Pataks Mango Curry sauce in the Chauvigny Le Clerc. It's in the English/Japanese/Mexican section but the way they are moving stock around in there currently, it will hidden under the frozen fish by tomorrow!

Hope this helps.

Yes I can confirm. I had to go into Leclerc Montmorillon for some water softener salt (one thing they do have cheap and of a good make) but I noticed plenty of Pataks in amongst their horrible redesign. Why do they bother the place is already awful, why make it any worse.

Anyway Admiral you can get it in Leclerc.

Thanks folks for the replies.

Returned  at the weekend from Angleterre and just about managed to find two small jars of Patak's curry paste in Leclerc.  Sadly they were marked "Doux" which is of no use to man nor beast.  I don't use the curry sauces.

By the by Fred, couldn't agree more.  What have they done with that store??? Doh

It is dreadful.  Any set designer would tell you to never use brown as the main colour.  The place looks old fashioned, dis-organised and claustrophobic - probably because of that awful colour scheme.

AND...another thing...why have they reduced some of the ranges of staples like rice etc?  And, the digital price tags are almost impossible to read.

That'll do for now. Whistle
