Hi folks another question for you all.  Are there any good meat suppliers in the locale where you can buy direct from the farmer as o hate paying over the top prices in supermarkets.  Thanks

There's Montybutcher (montybutcher.fr) outside Bussiere Poitevine.

I second Steve there.  montybutcher.fr is worth a go.  They farm their own stuff.  They also supply pork pies, steak pies, bacon, sausages, burgers.  [email protected]...  They are also at Les Herolles market at the end of every month.

Also worth the go is Les Fromentaux.  They supply their own beef, veal, poultry and lamb when in season.  Box sizes range from eight kilos, to 12-18 kilos and 24-36  kilos.

Also they have brilliant bacon.  You can order in advance and they deliver to certain drop-off points or buy on the day again at Les Herolles market.

The couple who run it farmed in the UK for 25 years and now have 200ha in France.
