Just thought you all might like to know that the French parliament has abolished the law on drivers having to carry a beathalyser kit in the motor.

The requirement has been law since 2013 but has proved un-workable and the kits themselves unreliable.

Sooo.....it has only taken our French chums six years to realise an un-realistic peice of legislation didn't work.

Ahh...la vie en France. Whistle

Didn't realise it had actually been passed as a law, pretty difficult to enforce as well, still bearing in mind the minister trying to bring in that law was a director of one of the manufacturers that says it all.

Hi Guys , i just bumped into this interesting thread ! talked about it casually (while having a single malt dram  Tongue ) to one of my neighbors who happen to be a "Gendarme" . Amazing answer...breath analyser is still mandatory BUT...there is no fine / penalty if you don't have one... just a "rappel a la loi" (meaning they tell you this is not right  and let you go).

Xchecking confirmed this on official french Gov site: https://translate.google.com/translate?h...s%2FF19459
