The number of speed cameras in France to be dramatically increased in number.

Although it's well known in certain areas to have them end up looking like this...

More easy money for the government, got done twice getting family from the airport and taking them back again Doh

Can't remember exactly but I think it was around €40 each. They should give you get one free if it's within 7 days.

Ah yes, the BOGOF principal.

Sorry, to say that I have never been caught on camera - probably going too fast that they can't catch me.

Just got my new company car recently, it's only a V6 3.5 litre PETROL jobbie Big GrinBig Grin I could claim back the fuel costs - but to be honest it's just not worth the paperwork!

Speed cameras are just a quick and easy way for the goverment to raise money from motorists.

I have had two tickets in our time here - one for driving at 53kmph in a 50kmph zone and one for allegedly jumping a red light.

The red light ticket I disputed simply because I went through the lights as they changed to amber because I had a young French harpie so close behind, had I stopped, she would have been in the back of the car snuggling the dog. Never heard another thing. And yes the car is French registered.

Beware the new wave of speed cameras - unmarked Renault Meganes with cameras front and rear. Oh, and there's a new nasty on the RN147 Poitiers by-pass heading north - 110kmph dropping to 70kmph in the flash of an eye. Or a camera lens.

Also, where's the leeway as in the UK? Fifty-three in a 50 zone is hardly Jenson Button putting his foot down.Huh

Yes mine were 3 and 5 k over the limit.

Is it true they deduct points from your licence in France? So I have a British licence with - 6 Big Grin

It's due for renewal next year.

Hang onto your British licence.

As far as I am aware the British and French licence systems can't talk to each other simply because the same offence carries a different penalty in each country.

My penalty tickets proudly stated I would be deducted three points per offence. Nothing happened.

Happy days. So far..........Whistle

According to French TV TF1, no less that seven Britons were pulled over and given tickets on the same stretch of motorway in Normandy, at the weekend.

All were clocked at over 190 km/h, but one driving an Audi R8 broke the speed radar after exceeding 250 km/h. When motorcycle cops from the town of Courbépine finally caught up with him, it was revealed that the Audi R8 was a company car, belonging to a business registered in England. The vehicle was impounded on orders from the prosecutor at Evreux, the driver’s license was confiscated, and he was immediately banned from driving on all French roads. In addition, the British speedster faces a €1,500 fine.
