I can recommend one not to use. The cheeky so and so just quoted us 8,239 euros to take the rendering off one wall at the end of our house, and just re point it. I won't name him on here though, but just be careful as some people are just out to rip you off. We estimated it was going to be about 2,000 euros max, so just be careful to get a few quotes, and if you find anyone reasonable please let us know  Big Grin Thumb

Builders are a bit like a cup of tea. One that is just right for one person will not necessarily be a good choice for another. I've always found it's useful to have one that you get on with.

What sort of work do you need doing?

On a general point, it's worth making sure that whoever you use is properly registered for the task required. They should have a SIRET number and be prepared to give you a quotation. Any work then done will be covered by their insurance for 10 years in almost every case.
I'd get three quotes for any work: in the past I've tried for one quote by a registered English firm and two by French firms. There are advantages to using an English builder unless your French is very good - or you find a French builder who speaks English! Beware if you use a non-registered builder. The French authorities can get quiet uppity if they discover you've been paying someone 'on the black' - and the work is unlikely to be guaranteed and may not meet French requirements.

If you need any electrical work doing, I can thoroughly recommend Jerome Betus. He is based in Adriers and knows his stuff. He also speaks English very well. He has a Facebook page, but I can;t send you a link as I don't do Facebook. His home number is 05 49 84 34 80, mobile: 06 78 12 02 91.

He also knows other local tradesmen so may be able to give you some more ideas.
