Chimney sweeping do you do your own, or do you get a professional to do it ?

We always used to do it ourselves in our old house, but we will soon be moving and the French sellers were telling us to be careful as your insurance is not valid if you don't have a certificate from a professional.

Any thoughts on this, and if you do use a Pro can you recommend one and what does it cost?

Thanks.

We've been told to use a professional to make sure the insurance is valid.

Have always used Beauchesne in Montmorillon. Their work is fast, efficient and very clean. Cost this year was 60€ per chimney. For this you get an official Fiche D'Intervention detailing the work done and, when you pay, a print out of the bill again detailing the work plus an official stamp of said facture. Voila! Votre certificate.

Beauchesne on 05 49 91 25 26. Or, my preference, go into the office at rue de Chemin des Dames. If you're wondering, it's first right at the main junction/traffic lights in Montmorillon - Saulge to your left, LeClerc/Lussac/Poitiers straight ahead. The woman on the desk in front of you as you go in is very helpful and does speak some English - although she doesn't like too many people to know that.

Bon courage...

Thanks Admiral €60 got to be worth it, I used to get in such a mess doing my own and did actually have a chimney fire once. Managed to put it out as we always have a small fire extinguisher nearby, but I didn't know insurance wouldn't cover D.I.Y sweeping Rules
