Hello all,

I am wondering if there are any good markets in and around Montmorrillon - I love a good market - food and nick-nacks.

We have family coming with us in August (23rd - 31st) and it would be good to have a list of days out.

Thanks

Kit

Most towns have something, but I think the weekly market in Chauvigny is one of the best.

It has everything from livestock to vegetables, from bric-a-brac to fine art. The regular markets are on the second Wednesday of each month. They also have themed annual markets - plants, truffles, Christmas etc.

Thanks Brian,

Do you know which day the Chauvigny market runs?

I have another question - possibly another thread, or already asked.

We will be looking for the small red roof tiles to replace some of the tiles on our current roof - do you know if it is more cost-effective to source second-hand ones, say from a reclamation yard, or just to buy new?

Weekly food markets are on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, but the bigger fairs are on the second Wednesday of each month.
In addition, there is a brocante (general stuff but no food) on the second Sunday of each month.
EDIT TO ADD: it looks as if this info is out of date - see Michael's post below for info on the Chauvigny Saturday market.

Here's their website!

hi Kit,

the largest weekly market in Chauvigny is on Saturday morning, a lot of things there , including farmers market , ethnic food (african, west indies, portuguese, north africa, turkish, Vietnamese) clothes, you will even find a british lady selling pastry & cheese (from UK !)

Thanks for the info, Michael. It looks as if the Chauvigny website is out of date (surprised? Non!) I haven't been to Chauvigny since 2019...
