Hi Cari, Lussac les chateau is a lovely place. Been there a few times and around that area. Good luck with your venture. Are you making the move permanently, or going back and forth to the UK like us? x

Hi Jane,

We are definitely wanting to make our move a permanent one .....however ....we will be back and forth for the first few years while we set up basic services and living quarters!probably a caravan or two!
Where are you based in the uk?

Sounds a bit like our situation. We live on the Wirral, so it's a heck of a drive there and back, but worth it when we get there. We're going to be holidaying and doing the place up as we go. Lot of hard work ahead and it's how much you can fit in to two weeks break at a time, isn't it? Hoping to make the move permanently within maybe 4 or 5 years max.
We've already made some contacts in the area and it's just a case of getting good recommendations for roofers etc. By good I also mean cheap  Big Grin

Thanks. Do you have a second home in the area Jim, or do you holiday there a lot?

Yep, that's us, about the same time scale too, Cool
The Wirral IS a long way for you, we are based in Essex ....not too far from ferry or plane so we are very lucky in that respect.

We have been looking for a project for a few years now and have made some lovely friends but further down in the Charante maritine region.
We are just beginning to put some faith that "this one" will finally go ahead after a few house disappointments
and false starts along the way.
It was great to find this useful and friendly forum in an area that was very new to us!
Good luck .... and I will hopefully have an announcement soon france
