Hello,
After years of searching various areas my wife and I finally settled on Montmorillon and bought a holiday home in the Brouard. We hope some day to spend much more time there. We have already made connections with some wonderful people in the town but were happy to discover this forum. Thank you for the helpful information that you selflessly offer and I hope to see you all about town.

Best Regards,
Ryan

Hello Ryan welcome to Around Montmorillon  wave

I think you are going to enjoy the area, it has so much to offer especially in the way of peace and some of the best countryside for miles.

Don't hesitate to start as many threads as you like, some could do with a little nudge to wake them up.  Big Grin

Regards.

Fred.

Hello to Ryan, and to Mrs Ryan. We bought our place in La Trimouille in November '15 and since then have been back and forth from here in the UK. Ours too is a holiday home, whilst it's being renovated, with plans to move there in next few years.
Good luck with your new home too. I hope you get further on with yours than we have  Wink

Thank you Jane. Luckily our place has been fully renovated (the one in Montmorillon at least, we have another in Le Dorat that we were not so lucky with) but we could certainly use any recommendations for good Brocantes within a reasonable distance. We will be back in February and hope to visit any that are open.

Hiya Ryan and welcome to the good ship SS Monty. wave

I'm sure you'll love your time spent over because I assume it'll be in the summer months when the weather can be pretty good.  Winter is hideous.  But there again I am what is termed a "southern softie" and my chums from the north tell me I don't know what real weather is. Doh

As for brocantes there are at least three with-in easy distance for you, either from Montmorillon or Le Dorat.

One on the old RN147 road just before Bellac, one in Lussac Le Chateau and one just outside Bussiere.

Enjoy.

Thank you sir,
That is helpful information. We will do our best to find and visit them all on our coming trip, assuming they are open in the winter.

Regards,
Ryan

I'm afraid that the one in Bellac on the old 147 has closed down. There is an alternative in Bellac just on the Bellac side of the new 147 (the Bellac bypass) at the roundabout with Bellac to Le Dorat road.

The one in Lussac Les Châteaux is good. It is just off Rue des Piniers.

Thank you for the information Brian.

Would anyone happen to know if the Brocante L'atelier in Chauvigny  is active this time of year?

De rien ?.

Our neighbours come from Chauvigny and insist that the brocante runs throughout the year - Saturday mornings, I think. They have told me that there is a Facebook page with info but I'm afraid I don't have a FB account so can't verify.
