Anyone any idea of a decent bitter-style beer with some oomph to it available in France?

I admit to liking the odd glass of something satisfying like Old Speckled Hen or Spitfire but I am NOT going to pay over inflated supermarket prices for them. Why do they charge so much anyway?

Call me an old skinflint if you must, but there must be a drinkable beer widely available here that isn't colourless, fizzy, luke warm and completely tasteless with no kick to it.

Over to you. And I'll have a pint of Marston's Pedigree since you're not offerring.

I believe there are a few mini breweries around but it's expensive, the nearest to a BEER I've found is Lidls "Bierre du Noel" that's my opinion, but worth getting a six-pack to see if you like it.

Thanks for that curryman Thumb

I will despatch one of the houseboys immediate to make a purchase. I assume your recommended biere is not just seasonal?

PS: Do you sell curry spices here in France or are you a bloke who just likes curry? Just wondering...Whistle

Admiral
I'm afraid it is seasonal, it's not the best but passable.
I make my own spice mixes which I have sold and I do a curry meal for up to ten people from time to time.

Thanks for that re the beer Curryman. My houseboy couldn't find it and had to be beaten to learn the error of his ways.

I just wish you hadn't posted those pictures. I am now sadly starving and dreaming of the Star of Bombay - or some such - in Angleterre. Ho hum. Life can be cruel at times.

Let me know when you have some curry spices up for grabs.Thumb

Aargh! You've done it again. Angry

All you're doing is making me hungry.

Must say that chicken looks scrumptious.
