We know there are places to buy new mattresses
in and around Poitiers but is there anywhere
In or closer to Montmorillon that sells new
mattress and base sets. The delivery charges
from Poitiers are huge. We need to purchase
two queen size beds.
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks Rosie and Huw

I think Ecogem have them but not sure of sizes, but could be worth a look, They are next to Leder price on the ring road. But we have never found good mattresses in France, they are usually just expensive pieces of foam. Rolleyes

Sorry couldn't help more.

Worth giving Meubles Annick a look.

The store is located on the Montmorillon to Lussac road behind the Peugeot/Citroen garage.

I'm not saying it'll work but it's worth a try. Otherwise you're going to have to travel to the showrooms of Meubles Debiais in either Confolens or Pressac.

Great family run firm who will make furniture to your order - including beds larger than the French standard - and supply proper sprung mattresses to go with same.

As Fred so rightly said, the majority of French mattresses seem to be soggy, sorry slabs of foam. Maybe that's why our French chums seem to change them every year when the giant matelas truck visits their ville. Whistle

Funny old world innit?

I notice an advert in the latest edition of etcetera from a firm calling themselves Famous Furniture in France. They say they're based near Montmorillon and ship British furniture to France .... "along with a range of quality UK pocket sprung mattresses."

Could be worth a punt. 05 49 83 03 71 or http://www.famousefurnitureinfrance.com.

Bonne chance. Thumb

We tried the place near Leclerc yesterday,
the chap was lovely but really only one spring
Mattress so we decided to do the schlep to But near
Conforama. We ordered two mattresses and duvets etc
found very helpful English speaking Thomas.

Off now to meetFred who is picking up some
bathroom things from us.
Thanks again for all your advice

Hello Rosie,
I too am looking for new mattresses but am not sure from the post where you finally got them. Was it from Conforama in Poitiers?

Hello Mollymitten, I think Rosie is still in foreign parts so she may not see your post.

So I'll stick my neck out and say she got them from But. But is the name of another another shop you can find near Conforama in Poitiers

I've not been in there myself, but it may help till Rosie gets back.

Fred.
