Sadly agree with you guys.
It is far easier and quicker to get out of France for a proper eye test.
I always go back to Angleterre for my annual check.
I remember trying to book an appointment with the opthalmist in Montmorillon some years ago only to be told the wait was at least 18 months.
He then retired a year later leaving just one opthalmist between Poitiers and Limoges.
