That's the Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich, where one is obliged to cosume vast quantities of whitebait.

Bit concerned about what Fred said, in that the French DON'T know what bacon is - or rather our idea of bacon.

It's easy to find from Thiat, but I can't remember how I got there. Doh I will have to ask Mrs Fred when she gets back from Bungy Jumping class as she remembers things.

My comment about the French don't know about bacon was, in my opinion they don't understand why you want back bacon sliced thinly. And whenever I've tried to ask for it they just either can't, don't, or more likely won't do it. You can get very very thin slices of what look a bit like streaky in the supermarkets all tucked up in a plastic package with added preservatives, but the butchers just don't seem to want to do it.

Mrs Fred bungy jumping eek I hope she's not launching herself off the viaduct at L'Isle Jourdain which always looked rather dangerous to me.

Especially the overly refreshed old bloke in a rowing boat whose mission it is to rescue you from the dunking you've just received because they don't weigh or measure the height of their "victims" sorry.....customers.

Surely Mrs Fred could take up knitting yoghurt sandals or a bit of light line dancing? Foot stomping to a blast of hideous Grand Old Opry must be safer.

Oh no she's not got that far yet, this is her second year and she is still at the harness fitting stage. She tells me the young man doing the training is very helpful with helping her get the harness on, but says she really should be moving up through the course a bit by now, but she still thinks she needs more time to get the harness fitting right.

I just can't stop her, she keeps saying she doesn't want to feel old. Line Dancing would be out of the question, she prefers Break Dancing. And as for knitting, no thanks I have enough string vests, underpants, & socks, left over from her last attempt. She even knitted me a Colourful String Thong for the summer, it would have fitted 30 years ago but when I tried it on I couldn't get it past my ..................................... Oh hang on the phone is ringing, Must Go wave

Thank God that phone rang. I was beginning to feel bilious and in need of a lie down in a dark room.

Still at least Madame Fred is being well looked after by a very helpful young man with his "harness fitting" sessions. I'm sure these things take time to get right (safety first) and he is obviously a very kind chap.Whistle

OK Admiral,
I've had a scouting mission on the Wonderweb, and found where the farm is located.
Head out of Lathus on the Le Dorat road, take the 1st turning to Oradour Saint Genest, follow road until you get into village, and you'll see a tight turn on right, virtually doubling back on yourself (still the D91), stay on that road, go over the River Brame,(if you go under railway bridge you've gone too far) then continue until you come to a fork in the road, take left turning. Follow road until you come to another fork, go left again, and voila 'Ferme de la Brame, Chez Daubusson, 87210, Oradour Saint Genest, 05 55 60 70 59.
I may take a trip this coming week, do you want me to pick some bacon up for you? stupid question I guess........should have said 'How much do you want?'Big Grin

Blimey Willow. Don't hang about do you? Never even thought about looking up the location via the Whizzbang thingy I'm typing on.

Impressed with your Interweb skills. Will consult the freezer capacities - I assume half a piggy is quite large - and get back to you.

Yrs in crackling heaven.Thumb

Our half was around 50K about the size of a large dog. We also had to order it and they will ask you how you want it cut, unless you want to cut it up yourself in which case it's cheaper. But you can't just pick one up and walk home with it. Doh

Let me know if they do do bacon, and while you are there the Pate is excellent. Wink

Hi Fred,
I make my own Pate, normal and vegetarian. But I'll go along and see if I can buy bacon, Back and Middle cut. I'll also see how much they charge for a suckling pig too for the next BBQ (for those who know me)

I would be extremly surprised if they sell bacon, if your interested I make my own bacon, back & streaky, it's dry cured so no nasty residue in the pan
