Hello all.

This is our first proper Christmas here in France.
Do any of the towns within 20-30km of Montmorillon have Christmas markets? I've scoured the papers etc but can't find any references. Our fantastically helpful French neighbours have rather thoughtlessly gone away for a few weeks so I cant ask them!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or recommendations,
Brian

Well I've answered my own question!

Montmorillon will have a Christmas Market on 14th December: "la magie de Noël au coeur de la ville. Produits du terroir, bijoux, livres, artisants, animations, crêpes, vin chaud, etc… De 9h à 18h, place du Maréchal Leclerc".

There's also a Christmas Market in L'isle Jourdain on 13th December, 10:00 - 18:00 in the salle des fêtes.

I'll be the one holding a French vocab book!

eek

Talk about being quick off the mark.....posting a query and answering it yourself within a day or two Whistle

I don't think our French chums start thinking about Noel in October. Thankfully no tinsel, hideous festive Muzac invading the shops et al. Unlike Angleterre where I'm told by my UK-based spies, that the nastiness of it all is starting - or in places, already in full swing.

You might deduce that when it comes to Christmas celebrations, I'm a "bah humbug" sort. But then again I specialise in grumpy.

Talking of Celebrations - we were weren't we? - don't buy them in France. If you like them get a chum or three to ship them from the UK.

There are Christmas markets in Lathus, Le Dorat, Bellac, Le Blanc etc etc but I'm keeping the dates and locations secret to tantalize my followers...viz; Sid and Doris Bonkers.

Happy hunting.wave

As I hope you'll agree, sometimes talking to yourself is the best way to guarantee an intelligent conversation Thumb

Thanks for the info. I'm not terribly into the whole mega Chrsitmas thing either, but some of the children plan a pre-Christmas visit and attending a Christmas market is on their list. I must have gone wrong somewhere!

I more than agree. It's the only way of staying sane and talking to an intelligent human being. Or alien. Or any of those other strange "beings" I see sometimes. I think. Whistle
