Question  Tue-07-04-2015, 17:19 PM
Anyone know where can I get some Euro's changed to British Pounds?

Mrs Fred has tried everywhere and can't seem to find anyone.

We do our banking with the Post Office in Montmorillon and for some reason they have stopped doing them, and said we will have to go to Poitiers.

The Banks won't do it as we don't have an account with them.  Doh

So if anyone knows where we could get some Euro's changed to British Pounds I would be grateful.

Found out you can get them when you land at the airport, but in the end we swapped some Euro's with family members for British Pounds as they could uses them on holidays.

Just checked the going rate on Google and done the exchange, we both benefited as there were no commission charges for either side. Thumb

The airport rates are usually dreadful. Last week at Bristol - from memory they were selling at 1.11 and buying at 1.61 when the rate through our currency exchange people was 1.38

Chris

A local exchange sounds a great ideal to avoid all commission charges.

Ouch Glad I didn't go that way.

Yes my family were more than happy to swap at the current rate we got from Google, they go on holidays in Europe so it worked out well for both of us.

I know you don't need the dosh now Fred but here's a random thought for the future and everyone else on here agonising over this taxing subject.  Whistle

Does the travel agency/car hire place inside LeClerc change euros into GBP?

They seem to pride themselves on doing eveything connected to holidays so maybe......??????

Daft idea I know but has anyone given it a try?  I am quivering with excitement awaiting an avalance of answers. Thumb

Steady Steady, I'll answer.

I'll keep it in mind, though I have no plans on going back again in a hurry.  Big Grin

In answer to my earlier suggestion that the LeClerc travel agency might do British pounds - they don't.

I asked my friend Sylvie in the agency who tells me the only place to get Anglais dosh would be one of the banks in Montmorillon provided:

a)  You have an account with them and;

b)  You pre-order well in advance.

There.  That clears that up then.

PS.  Why am I answering my own queries?  Doh  All answers on the back of a blank cheque please.

Because you're a good Around Montmorillon member and you want to help others if you can, so well done and thank you for the feedback.

Take the rest of the day off.  Thumb
