I was asking on the old forum about Fresh Fish, and thought I would start again on here.

After the closing of the Fresh Fish shop in Montmorillon I cant find any decent fish near by, we did get a nice whole fresh salmon from SuperU just before Xmas but their fish doesn't seem so fresh as it did when they were HyperU and they don't always have much choice.

I've just about given up on Leclerc in Montmorillon as the quality is poor, yet yesterday we stopped off at Leclerc in Chauvigny and they had some lovely Trout. Wall

The guy on the Montmorillon market has some good fresh fish, but it's not convenient for us.

So if anyone does know of a Fresh Fish van, shop, or stall near to the Lathus area please let me know.

Thanks.

Have you ever tried freezing something like Mackerel ? I was wondering if it's worth going somewhere to buy in bulk, though I'm a bit worried they would go dry in the freezer and not taste as good as fresh. I have found this with the pork, it's just not the same once it's been frozen. Sad

Yes. And it doesn't work very well. Something to do with the high oil content I suspect but, there again, I'm no expert.

Surprisingly, and by way of a little bonus, cod freezes well. Just thought you'd like to know. Whistle

Thanks for that Admiral.

No I'm not a great Cod lover, I prefer oily fish it keeps my skin supple and I'm running out of Dubbing.

I've got a spare tin of R M Williams finest Australian sailcloth wax for your ever youthful skin should you need it when the dubbing runs out. Just trying to be helpful. Don't want you wandering round Monty looking like a wizened old prune do we? nono

Errr. Never tried to eat it and it doesn't smell like fish so I presume it's not for human consumption. Although the tin doesn't contain the plethora of warnings so in vogue these days from the "elf 'n' safety police" warning one not to light a barbecue indoors, drive your tractor into a swimming pool and so on.

Go on. Give it a try. It'll do wonders for your boyish good looks.
