Hello all.
We need a better lawn mower. As we have some muddy and sloping fields to cut the best choice seems to be a 4 wheel drive machine with a front cutting deck. I've found some rather fine new ones at €6000+ which is more than I can afford to spend.
My question to the board is simple: which garden machinery place in the area (within say 50km of Montmorillon) is likely to have a good stock of used machinery?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Brian

There was one in Chauvigny that had a good selection of second-hand mowers at decent prices, he used to be tucked away beside a house but I think he moved to better premisses a few years ago somewhere just off the ring road . Sorry can't remember his name though. Blush

Hang on Mrs Fred may remember ...........................................

No can't remember his name, but if you are on the ring road roundabout where Gamm Vert garden centre go towards the town from that roundabout and she thinks it somewhere up there on the left.

Failing that it may be worth a look on https://www.leboncoin.fr

Thanks Fred - I'll see if I can find him. I did look at LeBonCoin but I'd prefer to buy from a dealer with a bit of a guarantee - just in case!

Yes I can understand that when you are spending good money.

Good luck on finding him, and please update if you do as could it help others. Thumb

From a quick bit of cyber-stalking on Google Street View, it looks as if the company is called Espace Motoculture Chauvigny, at Rue de Peuron, 86300 Chauvigny, with telephone number (not that I'm going to use it!) 05 49 56 46 59
ANd here's the Street View and Google Maps link

That was a good idea, yes that is the place I recognise it.

Well done Five

I visited Espace Motoculture et Loisir in Chauvigny, as suggested by Fred.
They had a wide range of second hand mowers and garden tractors. They were very helpful and asked about the size to be mown, how wet/dry/hilly it was, then recommended a particular machine - two years old with a one year guarantee.

I went back home to research that model on the web and it did seem like a good recommendation. I went back on Friday and after a test drive and a bit of negotiation, I bought it at about 65% of the new price with a couple of new added accessories.

It is due to be delivered on Wednesday afternoon so I'll let you know how you get on. If you need to find me, go to Adriers on Friday and follow the smell of freshly cut grass!

Thank, Fred, for the recommendation.
