For me it was a long time ago, but yes I kept the ones I had on my British one when it ran out.

I did have and HGV 1 but had let that drop before moving here, so didn't bother putting that on my choice.

I also had any motorcycle and that is still recognized.

If my memory serves me well I did have to get my doctor to sign a letter that I was capable of towing anything over 750kg. I went for that as we had a 4 wheel caravan but we never moved it in the end.

Things may be a little different know, but it was easy to do and my renewal 10 years later was even easier.

Mrs Fred also kept her entitlements and still has a French paper one, but I think they have stopped issuing those now.

Likewise, mine was a while ago (in fact I still have a permis de conduire rose cartonné) and received all the same groups along with a couple of surprises (lightweight artic and passenger bus). Both of which I didn't need so have let lapse.

Apologies if you already know this, but if you haven't already exchanged your licence it's not actually possible at the moment.
Mutual recognition of driving licences was not included in the Brexit agreement so the EU and UK need to agree on what must be done.
In the meantime, a UK licence is valid in France until 31 Decembre 2021 - let's hope they've made some progress by then!

There is a petition on Facebook together with a site dedicated to exchanging a UK driving licence.  We all have our fingers crossed for this recipricol agreement being signed off soon as it is is causing a lot of stress.   No one was able to exchange prior to 2021 unless the licence was expiring   you had points to be put on   had been disqualified or lost your licence.   Many of us tried and had our applications returned as this criteria was not met and we are now all stuck in limbo land.    Rules

In case anyone needs it, here is a link to the Facebook site dedicated to the post Brexit UK-France licence exchange.

It's a private group, so you have to apply to join it.

The petition is actually on the official Government petition site and can be found here.

Just a thought if people are struggling could they just say they have just lost their license and get one that way ?
