Check your passport, I just noticed mine has only 3 months left. Doh

You have two options to renew your passport, go back to the UK or send off to Paris. Below are the links to the Official Websites and instructions on how to apply.

If in the UK: https://www.gov.uk/renew-adult-passport takes around 3 weeks and costs £72.50 or £81.25 through the Post Office’s Passport Check & Send service.

If In France: https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports takes around 4 weeks and costs €182
  • Scroll down click Start Now.
  • Choose Country (France) and click Next Step.
  • Tick the relevant box for Renew Red, Renew Black, First, Lost or stolen and click Next Step.
  • Tick Adult or Child and click Next Step.
  • Now you need to download and print off the PDF to pay by card, (just click the link on the page) print it off and fill it in. You can also pay by International Mandate but it will take longer.
  • Now scroll down and you will see “Follow the rules about passport photos” click it to read, it could save you time and money.
  • In the blue screen you will see three more links
#1 Smart application form: (This didn’t work for me, and I probably would use it for security reasons)
#2 Blank Application form: Download and Print it off to fill it in.
#3 Guidance notes: Make sure you read these.

Send your application, photographs and supporting documents, ideally by courier to.

Regional Passport Processing Centre
35 rue du Faubourg St Honoré
75383 Paris Cedex 08
France

Tips:
Right click the links and open in a new window.
Take a copy of all the forms and your old passport.
Check Check Check and Check it again before sending.
For people born on or before 2 September 1929 passports are free.
Use Black Ink.

Thanks for that Fred.

Didn't realise you could renew a UK passport while in France. Although for a computer illiterate like me it sounds rather complicated.

Last time it needed re-newing - about three years ago - I combined the joys of a trip back to the UK Thumbsdown with a swift visit to the local Post Office. V quick and v simple and I'm sure the passport didn't cost that much.

There again, it was a few years ago and I'm not including the cost of flights etc etc.

But there again the joy of a "proper" Chinese takeaway - and several visits to pubs selling real beer - diid compensate for any pain.

Thanks again,

Pip pip,

Admiral

Just checked to make sure and edited the first post to also give the price for the post office option. £72.50 or £81.25. Thanks for pointing out that option, I didn't know about that.

Who are you calling an oldie?

Not surprised you haven't been back to the UK for nine years. I've seen your files and I'm sure you'd have your collar felt as soon as you hit the tarmac at Stansted.

Or have the "previous" expired?Big GrinBig Grin
