Hiya folks.

Probably the wrong place to post this but.....has anyone had recent experience of travelling into France? Or knows of someone coming in?

We know the rules. For now.  But a couple of friends who went there recently said the French customs blokes/girls were NOT impressed by being shown vaccine certificates (and all the rest) on mobile phones.  They wanted paper print-outs.  No surprise there I suppose,

Also much confusion as to whether France requires a PCR test OR an antigen test less than 24 hours old before entry.  The French Consulate in London is a waste of space.  All automated numbers game referring us to an out of date websites.

All help gratefully received.  We need to get back because we like  France, the French and the grub.

Plus the garden will look like the Amazon rain forest because our so-called friends have let us  down.

Thanks all folks. wave

No personal info, but this was posted on Twitter 3 hour ago: https://twitter.com/BritishinFrance/stat...4494668803

If you don't do Twitter it leads to the following: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/france which has recently been updated.

Have fun wave

Hi

So, we managed to get over for a week back in August and here is our tale....

- We filled out and signed a sworn statement, saying we didn't have symptoms and hadn't been in contact with anyone with the virus.
This form had to be uploaded to the our area on the Eurotunnel website

- Downloaded the French Covid app, as well as the NHS and had vaccine proof on both

- Travelled on the tunnel - asked at check-in if we were vaccinated and again at passport control - we responded with a 'yes' and all was fine

- Boarded the tunnel and off we went!!

So - no need to have a test before travelling as the French seem to have a grown up approach to travel. We had to take a lateral flow (big con) before we returned to the UK and another PCR on our return (another big con) but this is changing in October.

In summary - getting over was a breeze and getting home was a pain (in the nostril)!

Hope that helps a bit - we're coming again on October so haven't been put off. We miss Lathus!!

Keep safe

Thanks Scooby.

Greatly appreciate your post and info..

We're flying into Limoges next week after 18 months.
Sadly our "so called friends and neighbours" who live literally around the corner have not kept their promise to pop in to the house... so god alone what is going to greet  us... garden wise.

It does seem like the paperwork is getting easier. Ever hopeful!!
Wishing you a safe trip back to Lathus also.

No problem Admiral

Will be interesting to hear how the flying experience goes with the double whammy of the B-word and the C-word!

Good luck

I hope your trip goes well, Admiral!
I made a return trip France-UK-France at the beginning of September and it was all straightforward. The ferry was only about 15% full compared to pre-covid times, and mask wearing was required whenever moving about or close to others. The border controls were no worse than normal but I did notice the UK border officials taking an interest in vans and UK registered cars.

Are you OK with travel from Limoges to the Monstmorillon area? I have to go to Limoges one day this week and could probably arrange for my trip to coincide with yours if you need a lift?

Travelled by ferry from Portsmouth to Caen last weekend. The Brittany Ferries man at Portsmouth thanked us for the paper copies of the double vaccination and the sworn statement - he said it made his life easier.
Immigration/Cusoms at Caen Ouisteram acceped paper copies but no comment was made.
We had a CERFA form (CERFA 15678) for the temporary importation of some tools but he didn't want to see this or the tools.

Hope this helps

Paper copies are definitely a lot faster than passing smartphones back and forth...
