It's census time so you will soon be getting a knock on your door.

It starts on 15 Jan and an agent recruited by your Mayor will be bringing the census to you, make sure you know who they are or ask to see their card.

You can do it yourself either on the papers they will give you or on-line.

But I get them to do it for me, when they turn up just tell them you don't understand enough and they will fill in the answers for you and all you have to do is sign it.

The agent that came last time to us was being driven around by on of the Mayors staff, and he knew all about us and the house so it was simple and painless.

I feel a bit let down here Fred.

It's now February 14 and no one has come a'knocking at our door.

Does this mean we don't exist or our French chum don't like us very much?

Anyway.  Why are they doing a census?  Does this happend every year, every five years or every ten years?

Yours confused..... Huh

Do you want me to do it for you.

#2 Date of Birth
#4 Were born
#4 Marital status
#5 Employment
#6 Surface area of your house
#7 Do you own your house
#8 Heating
#9 Vehicles
#10 How old is your house
#11 Do you know the regulations about placing a Baguette on your dashboard whilst driving in the middle of the road. (ok I fibbed about #11 but that was it I think)

They do it every 5 years I think, and it's done just to keep people in work and use some more paper to know the population of France and work out the budget.

I think it finishes 21 Feb so you still may get the knock at the door yet, but if you don't then you will have to join the Foreign Legion.

Big Grin

Nearly got to deadline day Fred but a lady came a'knocking today armed with her census forms.

Census!!! Doh

It looked and sounded more like the Spanish Inquisition.

If this census is designed simply to find out how many people live in each of how many houses in each commune, then fine.  But this form was asking all sorts of ridiculous questions even going back to educational qualifications.  How am I meant to remember that?  I awarded myself and Madame Admiral the highest "Bacs" because it seemed like a good idea.

The only thing that threw her - nice girl but very plain - was when I said no one was living here on Januarty 1.  She didn't have a tick box for that and seemed quite flustered.  Now why was that?
